They
include the "Jim Bohannon Show" of interviews and call-ins,
aired nightly on nearly 400 stations from 10 pm-1 am ET, and
"America in the Morning", an early morning news magazine, also
on nearly 400 stations. "Talkers" magazine recently
estimated that Jim Bohannon has 6 million listeners on his Monday-Friday
"Jim Bohannon Show".
Jim's talk show is noted for its objectivity. He does not approach his
show with an agenda or axes to grind but merely as an opportunity to ask
questions. Jim describes himself as a "militant
moderate".
Bohannon was recently listed in "USA Today" as one of the
"25 most influential talk show hosts in the country." He
took over the late night slot held by Larry King in January 1993, after
spending the previous 11 years as Larry's backup. Jim serves on
the Board of Directors of the National Association of Radio Talk Show
Hosts.
Jim's television background includes hosting the former CBS-TV "Nightwatch"
program; hosting various programs with Maryland and Nebraska public
television; anchoring news on WFLD-TV, Chicago, and street reporting for
CNN in Chicago 1980-83. Before joining Westwood One and its
predecessor company, Mutual Broadcasting, in 1983, Jim worked for WCFL
radio in Chicago and WTOP and WWRC radio in Washington, among other
stations.
Jim grew up in Lebanon, Missouri, where he began his radio career.
After being graduated from Lebanon High School in 1962, Jim attended
Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. In 1966, he
joined the U.S. Army Security Agency for 4 years. His year in Vietnam
included service during the 1968 Tet offensive. |
